How to Troubleshoot a Chevy Tahoe 1Pull down on the fuse-panel cover together with your fingers and set the cover aside. The fuse panel is in the driver's side footwell.
2Plug the onboard diagnostic scanning tool in to the 16-pin plug for the left in the fuse panel and make sure the connection is secure.3Turn on the ignition, but do not start the engine. Then, turn on the onboard diagnostic scan tool.
4Wait for the scan tool to retrieve the difficulty codes from the laptop or computer. When this is full, the display on the scan tool will read "OK" and then you can shut off the ignition and unplug the scan tool Auto tools.5Press "Menu" on the scan tool and scroll to the "Stored Code" option on the display screen diagnostic car tool.
Select the "Stored Codes" option and reference your Tahoe's service manual to translate the engine code. This will tell you exactly what is wrong with your Tahoe.
