How to Reset the Engine Light inside a 97 Dodge Stratus

    Turn the engine off and locate the Dodge Stratus scanner port underneath the dashboard towards the left from the steering wheel, near the driver's side door. Very carefully insert the Car Diagnostic Tools scanner cable in to the port.

    Put the important inside the ignition and turn it into the run position positioned amongst the engine-off and engine-on positions.

    Locate the "scan for trouble codes" button on the diagnostic scanner. Press it and wait for the tool to scan the vehicle. This may take up to one minute to complete.

    Locate and press the "Clear Trouble Codes" on the diagnostic scanner. The trouble codes will reset and turn off the check engine light.

    Pull the cable from the scanner port and remove the key Vehicle Diagnostic equipment. Restart the car to make sure the check engine light has been turned off.
